Timrå is a town in Sweden. It is the main town of Timrå Municipality in Västernorrland County. In 2010, about 10,443 people lived there.

Timrå is located about 13 kilometers north of Sundsvall. Sundsvall is a larger city nearby. You could say Timrå is like a smaller town connected to Sundsvall.

The airport for both Sundsvall and Härnösand is actually in Timrå. It is called Midlanda airport.

One of Sweden's biggest rivers, Indalsälven, flows into the Gulf of Botnia right here in Timrå. This river is 430 kilometers long!

In Sweden, Timrå is very famous for its ice hockey team, Timrå IK. As of the 2023/24 season, they play in the top Swedish league, called SHL.

In 1995, a Swedish artist named Bengt Lindström created a huge sculpture in Timrå. It is called the Y and stands 30 meters tall.

There's a fun local story about Sörberge, which is on the north side of Timrå. People say it's haunted by a tall man wearing a very big coat. They call him 'Lilla Bubbas'.

Climate in Timrå

Timrå's weather used to be very cold, like a subarctic climate. This means long, cold winters and short, cool summers.

However, in recent years, the climate has changed. It now feels more like a cool-summer humid continental climate. This means the summers are still cool, but the winters are not as extremely cold as before.
