Tipton's Railroad Story

For many years, Tipton tried to get a railroad connection, but it was often missed by new train lines. Several plans to build railroads to Tipton failed in the 1850s and 1870s.

Finally, in 1872, a major railroad company, the Chicago & North Western, decided to help. They built a special branch line to connect Tipton to their main tracks.

The first train arrived in Tipton on Thanksgiving Day in 1872. This was a big event for the city, as railroads were very important for travel and trade back then.
