Toa Payoh MRT station (NS19) is an underground train station in Toa Payoh, Singapore. It is part of Singapore's MRT system. This station is on the North South Line.

The station is located right in the middle of Toa Payoh town. It is connected to the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange. It is also linked to the HDB Hub, which is a big building with shops and offices.

A Look Back at Toa Payoh Station's History

Toa Payoh station was the very first MRT station in Singapore to be finished. Its main structure was completed on 5 August 1985.

This station was also the first underground station in the world to have special platform screen doors. These doors help keep passengers safe from the tracks.

Toa Payoh station was one of the first MRT stations to open in Singapore. It started operating on 7 November 1987. This first group of stations ran from Toa Payoh to Yio Chu Kang. Today, you can still see a special plaque at the station. It marks the official start of Singapore's MRT system.
