Tobie Puttock (born 1974) is a famous Australian chef. He is well known for working closely with the British chef Jamie Oliver.

Tobie Puttock's Journey as a Chef

Tobie Puttock was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He learned to cook at the Box Hill Institute of TAFE. His first job was at a restaurant called Caffe e Cucina in South Yarra.

Early Cooking Days

Tobie worked in different places across Australia. Later, he traveled to Europe to cook there. In 1999, he met Jamie Oliver for the first time. They both worked at a restaurant called River Café in London. After a while, Tobie returned to Melbourne. He opened his own Italian restaurant named Termini. He also appeared often on the Australian TV cooking show Ready Steady Cook.

Working with Jamie Oliver

In 2001, Jamie Oliver, who was now a very famous chef, contacted Tobie. Jamie asked for help to open a special training restaurant. This restaurant would help young people who had not had many chances in life. Tobie went back to London to help Jamie. They set up the first Fifteen restaurant in Hoxton, London.

The story of creating this restaurant and its training program became a TV show. It was called Jamie's Kitchen and aired in 2002 on Channel 4. Tobie stayed at Fifteen as the main chef for several years. He missed Australia, so he suggested to Jamie that they open a Fifteen restaurant in Melbourne.

Jamie Oliver agreed to this idea. In 2006, another TV show, Jamie's Kitchen Australia, was shown in Australia on Network Ten. This show followed the opening of Fifteen Melbourne and how its staff were trained.

TV Shows and Cookbooks

Tobie Puttock has appeared on other TV shows too. He was a guest judge on My Kitchen Rules. Other judges included Karen Martini and Guy Grossi.

After returning to Melbourne, Tobie was on the Lifestyle (Australian TV channel) FOOD TV series. This show was called Tobie and Matt - Europe and Asia (2008). He also helped host ‘Wonderful Indonesia Flavours’ for the Asian Food Channel in 2015 and 2016.

Tobie has written five popular cookbooks. These include Daily Italian (2006), Italian Local (2008), and Cook like an Italian (2010). His book The Chef Gets Healthy (2015) showed his interest in healthy eating. Tobie also became very interested in cooking with plants. He described himself as “plant curious.” In 2018, he released his fifth cookbook called “SuperNatural.” Tobie also made short cooking videos for 25 countries through iTunes.

In 2013, after more than 20 years in restaurants, Tobie started focusing on his YouTube channel. He also worked with Jamie Oliver and Woolworths on an online video series called ‘Jamie's Table’.

At the start of 2018, Tobie became the Creative Director for Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food Australia. His goal was to help more Australians eat healthy and balanced meals. Tobie also works as a consultant for Jamie's Italian Australia. He is also an ambassador for Prahran Market in Melbourne.

Tobie's Personal Life

Tobie Puttock married Georgia Katz on April 7, 2007. They had been together for five years.

He is also the godfather to Jamie Oliver's second daughter, Daisy Boo. She was born in April 2003.
