Early Life and Hair Journey

Mia Jackson, who later became Tokyo Stylez, was born William Jackson. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. Her family has both African-American and Native American roots.

When she was younger, her mother was away for a time. Tokyo helped by styling her younger sister's hair for school. By the age of 15, she was already very good at it. Before she became famous, Tokyo made a special wig for a high school friend. This friend was battling cancer and needed a wig for her prom. Tokyo and her team made, delivered, and styled the wig for her. After this, Tokyo started making wigs for a friend's cancer charity. People wanted to buy these wigs, so she began making them for her own clients.
