Tolhuin is a town located in the Tierra del Fuego province of Argentina. It is home to about 9,879 people, based on the 2022 census. The town sits on the eastern shore of Lake Fagnano, which is in the southern part of a large island called Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. Tolhuin is the third biggest town on the Argentine side of Tierra del Fuego. The two larger towns are Ushuaia and Río Grande.
Tolhuin was founded on October 9, 1972. Its name means "like a heart" in the Selk'nam language, which was spoken by the native people of this area. The town is found along National Route 3. It is the only town between Ushuaia, which is about 103 kilometres to the south, and Río Grande, about 133 kilometres to the north.

Exploring Tolhuin: Fun Things to Do
Tolhuin offers some interesting spots for visitors. One of the most famous places is a bakery called Panadería La Unión.

This bakery is very well-known in the region. Many buses traveling to Ushuaia make a stop here. Passengers can get off to enjoy coffee and freshly baked goods. The walls inside the bakery are covered with signed photos. These are from many famous Argentine celebrities who have visited the town over the years.

Tolhuin has a type of weather called a tundra climate (ET). This climate is very close to a subpolar oceanic climate (Cfc) and a subantarctic continental climate (Dfc). This means it has cool summers and cold winters.
