Thomas John Ellis (born 17 November 1978) is a famous actor from Wales. He is best known for playing Gary Preston in the TV show Miranda. He also became very popular for his role as Lucifer Morningstar in the fantasy series Lucifer. He even played Lucifer again in a special TV crossover event called "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

Early Life and Education
Thomas John Ellis was born in Cardiff, Wales, on 17 November 1978. His parents are Marilyn Jean and Christopher John Ellis. He has three sisters, and one of them is his twin! His father, uncle, and one sister are all Baptist ministers.
Soon after he was born, his family moved from Wales to England. They settled in a city called Sheffield. Tom went to High Storrs School there. He was also a talented musician and played the French horn in the city's youth orchestra. Later, he studied acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. He earned a degree in Dramatic Studies.
Acting Career
Tom Ellis's big break came when he played Gary Preston in the BBC One sitcom Miranda. This show was on TV from 2010 to 2015. He also appeared in other popular BBC shows. He was King Cenred in the fantasy series Merlin. He played Justyn in Channel 4's No Angels. You might also remember him as Thomas Milligan in an episode of Doctor Who.
Tom also had roles in the soap opera EastEnders and the medical drama Holby City. In 2009, he starred in the comedy-drama Monday Monday. He also played Detective Inspector Bland in Agatha Christie's Poirot.
In 2015, Tom Ellis was chosen to play Lucifer Morningstar. This was for the TV series Lucifer, which started in 2016. The show was first on Fox, but then it moved to Netflix. In 2020, Netflix announced that Lucifer would have a sixth and final season. Tom played Lucifer again in a special episode of The Flash. This was part of a big TV crossover event called "Crisis on Infinite Earths".
In 2021, Tom won an award! He received the Tell-Tale TV Award for Favorite Actor in a Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror Series. In 2024, he starred as Nick in the Netflix romantic comedy movie Players.
Family Life
In 2006, Tom Ellis married English actress Tamzin Outhwaite. They were introduced by actor James McAvoy. Tom and Tamzin divorced in 2014. Tom has a daughter from an earlier relationship.
Tom married American screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer on 2 June 2019. They welcomed their daughter in November 2023. She was born via a surrogate. This means another person carried the baby for them. This is Tom's fourth child and Meaghan's first.
