Thomas Joseph Finn (born November 21, 1948 – died June 27, 2020) was an American musician and a DJ. He was one of the people who started the 1960s music group called The Left Banke. In this group, he played the bass guitar and sang. The Left Banke was known for its unique Baroque pop sound.

Tom Finn and The Left Banke

Tom Finn helped create the band The Left Banke in 1965. He started it with friends like Michael Brown and Steve Martin.

The band became famous with their songs "Walk Away Renée" and "Pretty Ballerina". Even though the group later broke up, Tom Finn was part of the band when they got back together sometimes.

Tom Finn's Later Work

After The Left Banke stopped playing together, Tom Finn worked in different jobs. He became an engineer at a place called Bell Sound Studios. This is where people record music.

He also worked with a famous jazz drummer named Buddy Rich. Tom helped manage the stage and was the host, or MC, at Buddy Rich's night club.

Becoming a DJ

In 1982, the owner of a famous club called Studio 54, Steve Rubell, asked Tom Finn to try being a DJ. This led Tom to work at many popular clubs in New York City. Some of these clubs were The Palladium and The Red Zone.

In the 1990s, Tom Finn started his own company called Topspin Entertainment. He became a DJ for special private events.

DJ for Important Events

Tom Finn was even the DJ for the White House Millennium Gala. This was a big party hosted by President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.

In 2006, Tom was featured in a magazine called Town & Country. He also appeared in an article in The New York Times. The article was called "The D.J. Who Moves the Movers and Shakers."

Tom Finn's Passing

Tom Finn passed away on June 27, 2020. He had been unwell for some time before his death.
