Tony Abbott (born October 26, 1952) is an American author who writes exciting books for children. He is best known for his popular book series, The Secrets of Droon. This series has more than 40 books!
Tony Abbott's books have sold over 12 million copies around the world. They have been translated into many languages. These include Italian, Spanish, Korean, French, Japanese, Polish, Turkish, and Russian. He also wrote the well-known book Firegirl and The Copernicus Legacy series.

Early Life and Education
Tony Abbott was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952. His father was a university professor. Their home had a large library, which was one of Tony's first ways to discover books. He grew up with one brother and two sisters.
When Tony was eight years old, his family moved to Connecticut. He went to elementary school and high school there. Later, he attended the University of Connecticut. He first studied music and psychology. However, he decided to focus on English. He earned a bachelor's degree in English literature. He also had majors in Music and Psychology.
After college, Tony Abbott traveled in Europe. When he returned home, he worked at several bookstores. He also worked for a publishing company. To improve his writing, he attended workshops taught by Patricia Reilly Giff.
