Anthony Michael Dees (born August 6, 1963) is a famous former American athlete. He was a top hurdler, known for running races over obstacles called hurdles. Tony Dees was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Tony Dees achieved great success in his career. He won a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. This was for the 110-meter hurdles event, which is a very challenging race. Winning an Olympic medal is a huge accomplishment for any athlete!

A Champion on the Track
Tony Dees was a very strong competitor in hurdles. He finished third twice at the World Indoor Championships, once in 1993 and again in 1997. He also placed fourth at the 1999 World Championships.
He was also a five-time national champion in the 60-meter indoor hurdles. This means he was the best in the country for that race five times! Tony Dees was ranked among the top hurdlers in the world. In 1991, he was ranked #2 globally, and in 1992 and 1993, he was ranked #3. He continued to compete at a high level until he was 38 years old.
Education and Coaching
Tony Dees studied at the University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss. He later finished his education at Turabo University in Puerto Rico.
After his racing career, Tony Dees became a coach. He coached cross country at the University School. He helped both the boys' and girls' teams reach the regional championships for the first time ever! He also guided four track and field athletes to the state championships in Florida.
