Michael Anthony Doyle (born July 21, 1935 – died January 28, 2000) was a famous Irish television and film actor. He became well-known in Ireland for playing a modern priest in the popular TV show The Riordans, which started in 1965. Tony worked steadily in many TV series, TV movies, and films throughout his life. He passed away unexpectedly in 2000 while acting in another popular Irish show, Ballykissangel.

Tony Doyle's Acting Journey

Tony Doyle first became famous playing Father Sheehy, a priest with new ideas, in the TV drama The Riordans. This show was very popular in Ireland.

He also appeared in many other well-known TV shows. These included Coronation Street, Between the Lines, and Ballykissangel.

Tony won an award for his excellent acting in the 1998 TV series Amongst Women. He also had a small role in the very first episode of the show Minder.

His Film Roles

One of Tony Doyle's most famous movie roles was Colonel Hadley in the 1982 British film Who Dares Wins. In this movie, he played the head of the SAS, a special military group.

He also acted in other films like Ulysses (1967) and Circle of Friends (1995). In 1997, he played Tom French in the movie I Went Down.

From 1995 to 1996, Tony played George Ferguson in 10 episodes of the TV drama Band of Gold.
