Toro Negro is a special area called a barrio in the town of Ciales, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 970 people lived there.
A Look at Toro Negro's Past
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census showed that 2,252 people lived in the Toro Negro barrio at that time.
