The Toronto International Film Festival (or TIFF) is a very big and popular movie festival. It happens every year in Toronto, Canada. Lots of people, over 480,000, come to watch movies at TIFF each year. This festival started in 1976.

In 2007, Time magazine said that TIFF had become the most important film festival in the world.

TIFF has a special award called the People's Choice Award. Movies that win this award often do very well later, even winning Academy Awards. Some famous movies that won the People's Choice Award include Slumdog Millionaire, The King's Speech, La La Land, 12 Years a Slave, and Silver Linings Playbook.

Many well-known movies have been shown for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival. These include American Beauty, Ray, and Black Swan.
