Toshihiro Yahata was born in Kashima, Japan, on May 29, 1980. He began his football journey in the youth team of Kashima Antlers. This club is a big name in Japanese football. They play in the J1 League, which is the top professional league in Japan.

In 1999, Yahata officially joined the senior team of Kashima Antlers. Even though he was part of the main squad, he did not play in any official matches that season.

Moving to Vegalta Sendai
