Tracye Lawyer (born August 28, 1977) is an American athlete. She is famous for competing in the heptathlon. A heptathlon is a track and field event where athletes compete in seven different events.
Tracye won a gold medal at the 2000 NACAC Under-25 Championships in Athletics. She also earned a silver medal at the first NACAC Combined Events Championships in 2005.

Early Athletic Journey
High School Achievements
Tracye Lawyer grew up in Santa Barbara, California. She went to Cate School in Carpinteria, California. While in high school, she was a talented athlete.
In 1993, as a sophomore, she won the CIF California State Meet Championship. This was for the high jump event. She continued to do well in high jump, finishing third in 1994 and second in 1995.
College Sports Career
Stanford University Success
After high school, Tracye attended Stanford University. She joined the track and field team. Here, she became a top heptathlete.
In 1999, Tracye won the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship. This is a huge achievement for college athletes. Before that, she placed third in 1997 and second in 1998. She also won the PAC-10 Championships three years in a row. Tracye set a new Stanford record in the heptathlon, which still stands today.
Besides track and field, Tracye also played soccer at Stanford. She played as a midfielder for the team.
International Competitions
Olympic Trials Experience
Tracye Lawyer was known for her strong performance on the first day of heptathlon events. She competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials. These trials decide which athletes represent the USA in the Olympics.
In 2000, she finished 7th at the Olympic Trials. Four years later, in 2004, she placed eighth.
Life After Competition
After her athletic career, Tracye became an assistant coach at Stanford University. Later, she pursued a career in medicine. She is now an orthopedic surgery resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
