Trai Byers (born July 19, 1983) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Andre Lyon in the TV show Empire. This popular show was about the music industry and aired from 2015 to 2020. In 2020, Trai Byers also helped write and starred in a historical movie called The 24th.

Growing Up and School
Trai Byers was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He spent his first year of high school there before moving to Georgia to finish his studies. After high school, he went to Andrew College and earned a degree in Theater. He then continued his education at the University of Kansas, where he got a bachelor's degree in communications. Trai also studied acting at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles and the famous Yale School of Drama.
Trai's Acting Journey
Trai Byers started his acting career in 2009 with a comedy-horror movie. In 2011, he appeared in the TV show All My Children. The next year, he had a role in the teen drama 90210.
Big Roles in Movies
Trai Byers starred in two movies directed by Kevin Willmott: Destination Planet Negro (2013) and Jayhawkers (2014). A very important role for him was in the 2014 historical film Selma. In this movie, he played James Forman, a real-life civil rights activist who worked for equal rights for all people.
