History of TransAsia Airways
Starting an Airline
TransAsia Airways began its journey in 1951. At first, it focused on helping people travel within Taiwan. It also offered flights for special purposes, like helping with farming or doing air surveys. Over time, the airline grew bigger and started flying to more places.
Growing and Flying Farther
As years passed, TransAsia Airways became a well-known airline. It started flying to many different cities, not just in Taiwan but also in other parts of Asia. The airline used various types of airplanes to carry passengers and cargo. It had a fleet of 26 planes and flew to 31 different places.
Where TransAsia Flew From
TransAsia Airways had its main offices in the Neihu District of Taipei. Its main airports, called "hubs," were:
- Taipei Songshan Airport
- Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
- Kaohsiung International Airport
These airports were important starting points for many of its flights.
The End of TransAsia Airways
After many years of flying, TransAsia Airways stopped its operations. This happened on November 22, 2016. The airline faced some challenges that led to its closure. Even though it no longer flies, it remains a part of Taiwan's aviation history as its first private airline.
