Travis Lamon Fisher (born September 12, 1979) is a former professional football player. He played as a cornerback in the NFL. After his playing career, he became a coach. He is currently a senior defensive analyst for the UCF Knights.

Fisher played college football for the UCF Knights. The St. Louis Rams chose him in the second round of the 2002 NFL draft. He also played for the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks.

Early Life and Sports

Travis Fisher grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. He went to Godby High School. There, he was a star in both football and track.

In track, he was a state champion. He won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He was also part of the 4x100-meter relay team that won the state championship.

College Football Career

Fisher played college football at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He started 23 games out of 33 he played. During his time at UCF, he made 130 tackles. He also had four interceptions and defended 35 passes.

In his senior year, he started 11 games. He finished that season with 61 tackles and two interceptions. He also defended 13 passes. As a junior, he had 37 tackles and two interceptions. Before UCF, he played one season at Coffeyville Community College.

Playing in the NFL

Travis Fisher was a talented player before joining the NFL. He was known for his speed. He could run 40 yards in just 4.37 seconds. He was 5 feet 9.8 inches tall and weighed 188 pounds.

St. Louis Rams Years

The St. Louis Rams picked Fisher in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He was the 64th player chosen overall. In his first year, 2002, he played in 14 games and started 11. He made 67 tackles and had two interceptions.

His best year was 2003. He played in 15 games and started all of them. He recorded 75 tackles and four interceptions. He even returned two of his interceptions for touchdowns. He led the NFL in interception return yards that year.

In 2004, he broke his right arm during a preseason game. This made him miss the first six games. He returned to play in 10 games. In 2005, he had a groin injury that ended his season early. In 2006, he broke his right arm again. This was the second time in three seasons.

Time with the Detroit Lions

In 2007, Fisher joined the Detroit Lions. He signed a one-year contract. He had a great first year with the Lions. He recorded a career-high 85 tackles. He started 13 of the 16 games he played.

Because of his strong performance, the Lions signed him again in 2008. He signed a three-year contract. In 2008, he played in 15 games and started 8. He made 39 tackles. The Lions released him in May 2009.

Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens

Fisher signed with the Seattle Seahawks in August 2009. He played in four games for them. He was later released in November of that year.

In May 2010, Fisher signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He was released by the Ravens in September 2010. This marked the end of his playing career in the NFL.

From 2018 to 2022, Fisher was the defensive backs coach at Nebraska. Under his coaching, many of his defensive backs signed NFL contracts. For example, Mike Hughes became an All-American and a first-round NFL pick.

In January 2023, Fisher became the cornerbacks coach for the Syracuse Orange. As of 2025, he is back at UCF as a senior defensive analyst.
