Treasure Cove! is a fun and educational computer game released in 1992. It was made by a company called The Learning Company. You could play it on computers using MS-DOS, Windows, or Macintosh systems.
This game was originally designed for younger kids, aged 5 to 9. Its main goal was to help them learn important skills. These skills included reading, math, and even some facts about the ocean! Treasure Cove! is part of a series of games known as the Super Seekers games from The Learning Company.
The game is an adventure where you move across the screen, which is called "side-scrolling." Your big mission is to fix a broken rainbow bridge. To do this, you need to find special gems hidden all over the cove. Starfish will ask you simple math and reading questions. If you answer correctly, they give you clues to find the gems. The game received good reviews and even won an award in 1993!

What is Treasure Cove!?
Treasure Cove! is an exciting educational adventure game. You play as the Super Seeker, a hero whose job is to protect the ocean. The story takes place in a make-believe place called Treasure Cove. This cove is getting polluted because of messy experiments done by the Master of Mischief. He is a bad guy who appears in many of The Learning Company's Super Seekers games.
Your main goal is to stop the pollution. You do this by plugging up pipes that are leaking oil into the ocean. You also need to rebuild a broken bridge to an island. Finding gems in the cove helps you do both these important tasks.
Exploring Treasure Cove
The cove has three different areas you must explore. In each area, you need to find gems and plug leaking pipes. These pipes leak "goobies," which are like blobs of oil. To plug a pipe, you need to find a special puffer fish. Once you have it, you drop it onto the pipe opening.
Be careful! If you touch a goobie, you lose some "light units." You need these light units to see.
Finding Clues and Gems
To find the puffer fish, you must collect clues. You get clues by catching orange starfish. These starfish will ask you riddles. Each stage has three clues. These clues are simple words, like "three," "swimming," or "eels."
After getting the clues, you use your flashlight. You shine it on groups of animals that match the clues. If you shine your light on a group of animals that matches two out of the three clues, you will find a gem! Finding gems adds points. These points help you restore the Rainbow Bridge.
Progressing in the Game
After you find gems and plug leaks in all three areas, you will surface from the water. The gems you collected are added to your total count. When you collect enough gems, your "star rank" goes up. This also makes the Rainbow Bridge get longer.
As your star rank increases, the game becomes more challenging. You will need to find more gems. The riddles from the starfish become harder. Also, the fish that try to steal your light move faster and are tougher to avoid.
Enhanced Version of the Game
In 1994, a newer and improved version of Treasure Cove! was released. This version was made to work better with Windows computers. It came out on a CD-ROM, which was a new way to store games back then.
