Tremont is a small town in Itawamba County, Mississippi, United States. It was started in 1852. In 2020, about 467 people lived there. This was a small increase from 465 people in 2010.

Tremont's Location and Size

Tremont is in the eastern part of Itawamba County. It sits east of Bull Mountain Creek. This creek is part of the Tombigbee River system.

How to Get to Tremont

Interstate 22 and U.S. Route 78 go through the southern part of Tremont. You can get to the town from Exit 113. If you drive west on I-22/US-78, you will reach Tupelo in about 28 miles. Driving east for 68 miles will take you to Jasper, Alabama.

Mississippi Highway 178 also runs through the middle of Tremont. It used to be part of US-78. This highway goes west for 9 miles to Fulton. Fulton is the main town in Itawamba County. Mississippi Highway 23 also passes through Tremont. It goes southwest for 16 miles to Smithville. It goes northeast for 17 miles to Red Bay, Alabama.
