Trent Robinson, born on March 15, 1977, is an Australian rugby league coach. He is currently the head coach for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League (NRL). He also used to play rugby league professionally.
Before coaching the Roosters, he coached teams like Toulouse Olympique and the Catalans Dragons. He also worked as an assistant coach for the Newcastle Knights. As a player, he played for the Wests Tigers, Parramatta Eels, and Toulouse. He played as a prop and lock.

Trent Robinson grew up in Camden, a town near Sydney, Australia. He went to St Gregory's College, Campbelltown where he was a good student and played rugby league.
Playing Career Highlights
Starting Out in Rugby League
Robinson began his playing journey with the Sydney Roosters junior teams. He played as a front rower in the Jersey Flegg and President's Cup competitions.
Playing in the NRL
From 2000 to 2001, Robinson played three games for the Wests Tigers. He was the first player to make his first-grade debut with the Wests Tigers without playing for another team first. In 2002, he played one game for the Parramatta Eels.
Moving to Europe
In 2005, Robinson moved to Europe. He played for Toulouse Olympique before becoming their head coach at just 28 years old.

Coaching Toulouse Olympique
After playing for Toulouse Olympique, Robinson became their coach in 2005. He was only 28 at the time. His team made history by becoming the first French team to reach the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.
Assistant Coach Roles
Robinson was an assistant coach for the Newcastle Knights from 2007 to 2009. He then joined the Sydney Roosters in 2010 as an assistant coach. He helped the Roosters improve their defense. The team went from last place in 2009 to finishing as runners-up in the NRL Grand Final in 2010.
Leading the Catalans Dragons
After the 2010 season, Robinson became the head coach of the Catalans Dragons. He coached them until the end of 2012. In his first year, he helped the team move from last place to sixth. He was named 'Super League Coach of the Year'. His team reached the Preliminary Finals two years in a row.
Head Coach of the Sydney Roosters
On September 7, 2012, Robinson was announced as the new head coach for the Sydney Roosters. His contract started in 2013. He is now the longest-serving head coach in the Roosters' history. He has led his team to the Finals in almost every season since 2013.
First Year Success (2013)
In his first year as an NRL head coach, Robinson led the Sydney Roosters to a Premiership win. He was only the second rookie NRL coach to win a Minor Premiership. He also became the youngest person to win the Dally M Award for Coach of the Year. He was the sixth rookie coach to win a Premiership. At the end of 2013, he received the Rugby League International Federation's Coach of the Year award.
World Club Champions
In early 2014, the Sydney Roosters became World Club Champions. They beat the Wigan Warriors 36-14 in the World Club Challenge. The Roosters also won two Minor Premierships and Club Championships in a row under Robinson. They reached the Preliminary Final in 2014.
Continued Success (2015-2017)
In 2015, the Sydney Roosters made history. They became the first team to win three Minor Premierships in a row in the modern era. They also reached the Preliminary Final that year. In 2017, the Roosters won the NRL Auckland Nines tournament. They also made it to the preliminary finals.
Back-to-Back Premierships (2018-2019)
In 2018, Robinson's Sydney Roosters won their 14th Premiership. This Grand Final win was called a "coaching masterclass." The Roosters also secured their 20th Minor Premiership that year. In the 2019 NRL season, Robinson led the Roosters to their 15th Premiership. He became the first coach since 1992-93 to win back-to-back Premierships in a unified competition.
Recent Seasons (2020-Present)
The Sydney Roosters started their 2020 season by winning the World Club Champions title for the second year in a row. In the 2020 season, which was affected by the coronavirus, Robinson helped the NRL's Project Apollo group. This group worked to restart the competition after it stopped for two months. Despite many injuries, the Roosters finished fifth in 2021. Robinson was a finalist for the Dally M Coach of the Year award.
In the 2022 NRL season, Robinson made history. He became the first person to coach 250 first-grade games for the Roosters. He was again a finalist for the Dally M Coach of the Year. His team had an eight-match winning streak and finished sixth, making the Finals Series.
In the 2023 NRL season, the Roosters played their first full season at the new Sydney Football Stadium. Robinson's team had a strong finish to the season. They won five games in a row to qualify for the Finals in seventh place. They won their elimination final against Cronulla 13-12. The following week, they lost a close game to Melbourne in the semi-final. In the 2024 NRL season, Robinson led the club to a third-place finish. They reached the preliminary final but lost to Melbourne.
