History of Treyarch
How Treyarch Started
Treyarch was founded in 1996. It was first known as Treyarch Inventions. In 2001, Activision bought the company. This made Treyarch part of a larger gaming family. In 2005, another game studio, Gray Matter Studios, joined Treyarch.
Making Famous Games
In 2007, Activision announced that Treyarch would help make a James Bond game. This game was called 007: Quantum of Solace. It came out in 2008. Treyarch is a very important developer for the Call of Duty series. They have made many popular games in this series.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II was a huge success. It broke records for entertainment launches in 2012. It earned over $650 million in just five days! Later, Grand Theft Auto V broke this record. Treyarch also helped make the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Ghosts. They made sure it worked well on that console.
In 2023, a long-time studio design director, David Vonderhaar, left Treyarch. He had worked there for 18 years.
