Trifid Nebula facts for kids
The Trifid Nebula is an emission nebula in the constellation of Sagittarius. It is a large H II region that is bright enough to be viewed with binoculars. The Trifid nebula is about 5,200 light-years away from Earth. It gets its name trifid from its three visible dust lanes.
