Trihi was once a small area, or 'locality', in the south-east of South Australia. It was about 343 kilometers (213 miles) south-east of Adelaide, the state's capital. It was also about 25 kilometers (15 miles) north-east of Millicent.
Trihi got its name as a locality in 1997, under a law called the Geographical Names Act 1991. Its borders were officially set in 2001. The area was named after Trihi Lagoon. On November 26, 2015, Trihi stopped being a separate locality. Its land was then split between two other areas: Kalangadoo and Mount McIntyre.

The last time people were counted in Trihi was in August 2011, during the 2011 Australian Census. This was before Trihi was officially closed down. The census showed that Trihi shared a population of 519 people with other nearby areas. These areas were grouped together by the Australian Bureau of Statistics as the State Suburb of Kalangadoo. However, some reports suggested that only about a "dozen or so families" actually lived in Trihi itself.
