Tuco, also called Tuku, Tucu, or Huanaco Punta, is a mountain in the Andes mountain range. It is located in South America, specifically in Peru. The name "Tuco" might come from the Quechua word for "owl." "Huanaco Punta" could mean "guanaco peak" in Quechua and Spanish.
Tuco's top is 5,479 meters (about 17,976 feet) high. It is one of the mountains covered in snow in the Cordillera Blanca. This mountain range is in the central part of northwestern Peru. Tuco is found in the Ancash Region, in both the Bolognesi and Recuay provinces. It sits between other peaks like Challhua and Pastoruri.
Where is Tuco Located?
Tuco is in the Ancash Region of Peru. It is part of two different areas:
- The Aquia District in Bolognesi Province.
- The Catac District in Recuay Province.
This mountain is northeast of another peak called Caullaraju. It is also between Challhua to the west and the Pastoruri to the east.
