About the Book
Tuesday is a unique wordless picture book for children. This means it tells a whole story using only pictures, with very few words! David Wiesner, an American author and illustrator, created it. The book first came out in 1991. It has 35 pages and is great for young readers, but older kids and even adults love it too.
What's the Story About?
The story in Tuesday is mostly told through its colorful pictures. It's all about a group of frogs who go on an amazing adventure! The book only has six words and a few time stamps to guide you.
The adventure starts on a "Tuesday evening, around eight." A bunch of frogs begin their journey in a swampy area. Suddenly, they start flying on their lily pads! They float through the air, past birds sitting on power lines. They even peek into a kitchen window where a man is eating a sandwich.
The flying frogs continue their journey, soaring through someone's backyard. They even go inside a house where an old lady is sleeping in front of her TV. The frogs are super curious and even grab her remote control to watch the screen! Later, at "4:38 a.m.", they meet a dog who tries to catch one of them. But instead, the dog ends up joining their wild adventure! As the sun comes up, the frogs return to their pond. They go back to their normal frog lives, resting on lily pads and swimming. Back in the city, people are confused by the strange marks the frogs left behind.
The very last pages of the book show "next Tuesday" around eight in the evening. Guess what? This time, it's pigs hovering above a farm building! It hints that another amazing adventure is about to begin.

Tuesday has won some really cool awards:
- Caldecott Medal (1992) – This is a super important award for the best illustrations in a children's book in the United States.
