Tunku Annuar ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah (born June 30, 1937, died May 21, 2014) was an important member of the royal family in Kedah, a state in Malaysia. He was the son of Sultan Badlishah. From December 2011 until his passing in May 2014, he led a special group called the Council of Regency in Kedah. This council helps manage the state when the Sultan is away or unable to rule. Tunku Annuar was also the half-brother of Sultan Abdul Halim.

Tunku Annuar's Life Story
Tunku Annuar was born on June 30, 1937. He was the first son of Tunku Badlishah and his second wife, Tengku Asma Sultan Sulaiman. His father, Tunku Badlishah, was the seventh son of Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim.
His Royal Family
Tunku Annuar's mother, Tengku Asma, was a daughter of Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alam Shah of Terengganu. She became the Sultanah of Kedah in 1943. Tunku Badlishah, Tunku Annuar's father, was named the Crown Prince (Raja Muda) of Kedah in 1935 and became the Sultan in 1943. Tunku Annuar also had a full brother, Tunku Sallehuddin, who later became the Sultan of Kedah.
Education and Royal Titles
Tunku Annuar studied at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar. After that, he continued his studies at the Australian Army Staff College in Fort Queenscliff, Australia.
He received several important royal titles during his life. On January 21, 1979, he was given the title Tunku Temenggong of Kedah. Later, on November 28, 1981, he was granted the title Tunku Bendahara of Kedah. This title meant he was the second in line to the throne after the Crown Prince.
Leading the Regency Council
On December 12, 2011, Tunku Annuar was chosen to be the Chairman of the Council of Regency. This happened when Tuanku Abdul Halim became the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who is the King of Malaysia. Other members of this council included his brothers Tunku Sallehuddin and Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani, as well as Tuanku Abdul Halim's daughter, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz.
Tunku Annuar's Family
Tunku Annuar married Sharifah Saleha Syed Omar Shahabuddin on January 22, 1962. They had four children together:

Tunku Annuar later married Puan Sri Dato’ Seri Noor Suzanna Abdullah. They had one son:

Passing Away and Funeral
Tunku Annuar passed away on May 21, 2014, at 12:20 AM. He was 74 years old and died from a heart attack at Pantai Hospital in Ipoh, Perak.
His body was laid to rest at the Kedah Royal Mausoleum in Langgar, Kedah. The burial took place after the Asr prayers.
Before his death, many believed he would be the next in line to the throne of Kedah. This was because his elder half-brother, Tunku Abdul Malik, was considered too old to rule. However, after Tunku Annuar's death, his younger brother, Tunku Sallehuddin, was named the next heir and Crown Prince of Kedah on December 15, 2016.
