Turbe is a small village located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's part of the Travnik area. The name 'Turbe' comes from a Turkish word, türbe, which means a special tomb or monument.

What is the Population of Turbe?
In 2013, about 3,890 people lived in Turbe. Most of the people living there are Bosniaks. There are also groups of Croats and Serbs.
Over the years, the number of people in Turbe has changed. In 1971, there were 1,816 residents. By 1991, the population grew to 4,549 people. After 1991, the population decreased to 3,890 in 2013.
Where is Turbe Located?
Turbe is found in a beautiful valley. This valley is home to the Lašva River. The village is about seven kilometers west of Travnik. It sits on a main road, the M5, which goes towards Donji Vakuf.
Two smaller rivers meet in Turbe. These are the Karaulska Lašva and the Komarska Lašva. They join together to form the main Lašva River.
A Brief History of Turbe
Turbe has a long and interesting history. It has seen many changes over the centuries.
Early History and Ottoman Rule
In the 15th century, the village became part of the Ottoman Empire. This was a large empire that ruled many lands. Later, in 1878, Turbe came under the control of Austria-Hungary. This happened after a big meeting called the Congress of Berlin.
Turbe During the World Wars
Turbe was heavily affected by wars. During the Second World War, the village suffered a lot of damage. A major battle happened nearby in Travnik in 1943. In this battle, the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army fought against Croatian troops. Sadly, about 3,000 people died, including many civilians.
Turbe in the Bosnian War
More recently, Turbe was on the front line during the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995. This means it was a very important place for fighting. A military group, the 312th Mountain Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was based in the Turbe area during this time.
Sports in Turbe
Sports are important in Turbe. The most well-known sports team is the football (soccer) club, NK Vlašić Turbe. Until 2007, this team played in a higher division of football in the country.
