Bear Creek

A very important natural feature in the area is Bear Creek. This creek is so well-known that a road crossing it changes its name to Bear Creek Church Road. The road is named after a local church, which in turn was named after the creek. Even though Bear Creek isn't big enough for boats, the famous explorer Daniel Boone often hunted along its banks. He owned land near Bear Creek when he lived in Davie County during the 1750s and 1760s. Bear Creek eventually flows into the larger Yadkin River.
