Harmony is a small and friendly town in Iredell County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is located in the northeastern part of Iredell County. This area is also considered part of the "North Carolina High Country." The town was officially started in 1927. In 2010, about 531 people lived here.
Several historic homes are located in or near Harmony. These include the Gaither House, the Holland-Summers House, and the Morrison-Campbell House. These buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

History of Harmony
Harmony became an official town in 1927. Its name comes from the "Harmony Hill Camp Meetings." These were special gatherings that happened for two weeks each year. They took place where the Harmony elementary school is today.
Harmony Hill Camp Meetings
The camp meetings were a mix of religious revival and social events. Methodists and Baptists would come together. The first meeting was held in 1846. These meetings are still held every year during the second weekend of October.
Community Life and Education
Even though the area around Harmony is mostly rural, the town has many important places. It has a library and the Tomlinson-Moore family park. There is also the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department and a community center. The town has an elementary school and doctor's offices. A manufacturing plant called Associated Metal Works is also located here, along with other businesses.
The Harmony Academy was started in 1908. It later became Harmony Farm Life in 1916. This was an accredited high school. In 1966, high schools in Iredell County were combined. The old Harmony high school building then became an elementary school.
Geography and Location
Harmony is located in a part of North Carolina that is easy to reach. It has important roads that connect it to other towns.
Main Roads and Connections
U.S. Route 21 goes right through the center of Harmony. If you go north on US 21, you can reach Elkin in about 23 miles. Going south for about 15 miles will take you to Statesville. Statesville is the main town for Iredell County.
North Carolina Highway 901 also crosses US 21 in Harmony. Going northwest on Highway 901 for about 5 miles leads to Interstate 77. If you go southeast for about 6 miles, you will reach U.S. Route 64.

According to the census from 2010, there were 533 people living in Harmony. These people lived in 206 different homes, and 150 of these were families. The town had about 380 people per square mile. There were 223 housing units, which are places where people can live.
