Turtle Head Island is a small island located in the beautiful Torres Strait Islands archipelago. This group of islands is found in northern Australia. The island is part of the amazing Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which is famous for its coral and sea life. It sits east of the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland.

About Turtle Head Island

Turtle Head Island is a special place because of where it is located. It's found in Newcastle Bay, right where two rivers, the Escape River and the Middle River, meet the sea. It's also close to a creek called Jackey Jackey Creek.

Location and Surroundings

The island is very close to the Apudthama National Park. This park is a protected area on the mainland. Turtle Head Island is about 30 kilometers (about 19 miles) southeast of a town called Bamaga. This area is known for its stunning natural beauty and important ecosystems.
