The Story of Tutenstein
Tutankhensetamun was a young Egyptian Pharaoh. He was a bit wild but had a kind heart. He lived a fancy but short life. He died in Ancient Egypt while saving a friend. Rocks from a falling temple crushed him. He carries a powerful staff called the Sceptre of Was. At first, no one knows how he died.
In the 21st century, a 12-year-old girl named Cleo Carter sees Tut wake up. This happens after lightning hits his mummy, which is in a museum. Cleo and her talking cat, Luxor, must help Tut learn about the modern world.
During the show, the evil god Set and his demons try to destroy Tut. They want to get his Sceptre of Was. Set wants to rule everything. Tut and his new friends are very busy stopping Set. They also deal with old scrolls, strange gods, and silly teenagers. Plus, Tut is a bored mummy who does not want to stay in his sarcophagus.
How Tutenstein Was Made
Jay Stephens, the creator, loves history and old stories. He said he is a "nerd" for reading about history and myths. He spent many years making the show for TV. He created new settings and characters that were different from his original comics.
Stephens worked as a creative helper for the show. Fil Barlow designed the characters. He worked on the first 20 episodes. Later, his student, Thomas Perkins, took over.
The company that made the show, PorchLight Entertainment, is in Los Angeles, California. They won Emmy awards for the first and second seasons. An Irish TV company called Telegael also won an Emmy Award for the second season.

Here are the main characters and their voice actors:

- Cleo Carter – Crystal Scales (seasons 1-2), Leah Lynette (season 3)
- Luxor – David Lodge
Tutenstein and Real History
Many gods in the show look like their real historical images. All the Egyptian myths mentioned in the show are true stories. The Scepter of Was was a real Egyptian symbol. But in the show, it is a magic wand, which is not true.
The real Tutankhamun died when he was 19. This Tut (Tutahnkensetamun) died when he was 10. However, Tutenstein is drawn with a cleft lip, just like the real Tutankhamun. The ancient game senet was real. But the rules shown in the show are not the exact old rules. An expert on Egypt, Dr. Kasia Szpakowska, helped the show makers.
