The Twin Falls (also known as Gungkurdul in the Kundjeyhmi dialect) is a beautiful cascade waterfall in Australia. It's located in the Northern Territory, inside the famous Kakadu National Park. This park is so special that UNESCO has listed it as a World Heritage site.

Twin Falls gets its name because the water flows down in two main sections, making it look like two waterfalls side by side. The water comes from the South Alligator River and tumbles over the edge of the Arnhem Land escarpment, which is a big, steep cliff.

Where to Find Twin Falls

This amazing waterfall is found in the eastern part of Kakadu National Park. It's about 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of a town called Jabiru.

Getting to the Falls

Reaching Twin Falls is an adventure! You need a special four-wheel drive vehicle to get there. The trail is about 60 kilometres (37 mi) long, starting from the Kakadu Highway. It's also quite close to another famous waterfall, Jim Jim Falls.

How High is Twin Falls?

The top of Twin Falls is about 158 metres (518 ft) above sea level. The water drops down in several steps, with the total height of the falls ranging from 44–51 metres (144–167 ft). Imagine a building about 15 stories tall – that's how high the water falls!

Why Twin Falls is Special

Twin Falls is a very popular spot for tourists and nature lovers. Its stunning beauty has even been featured in magazines! In 2012, Australian Traveller magazine picked it as one of the top 100 images to show off Australia to the world.
