Tyke Tolbert, born on September 15, 1967, is a well-known American football coach. He used to play football too! Right now, he works as the wide receivers coach for the Tennessee Titans in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the Titans, Coach Tolbert helped train wide receivers for several other NFL teams. These teams included the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants.

Tyke's College Football Days

Tyke Tolbert went to Louisiana State University, also known as LSU. While he was there, he played football for the LSU Tigers football team. He was a wide receiver, which is a player who catches passes from the quarterback.

Tyke's Coaching Journey

Starting Out in College Coaching

Coach Tolbert began his coaching career at LSU in 1994. He started as a graduate assistant, which is a coach who is also studying at the university. Later that year, he moved to Northeast Louisiana to continue as a graduate assistant.

In 1995, he coached wide receivers at Ohio. Then, he returned to Northeast Louisiana. There, he spent three seasons helping to coach the team's tight ends. Tight ends are players who can block and catch passes.

After that, he coached tight ends at Auburn in 1998. For the next three years, from 1999 to 2001, Tyke coached wide receivers at Louisiana-Lafayette. He also helped with recruiting new players. In 2002, he coached tight ends at Florida before moving to the NFL.

Joining the NFL

Tyke Tolbert got his first taste of the NFL through a special program. He joined the Detroit Lions for training camp in 1997. He also worked with the Arizona Cardinals in 2001 as part of the same program. These experiences helped him prepare for a full-time NFL coaching job.

Coaching the Arizona Cardinals

Tyke's first official NFL coaching job was with the Arizona Cardinals in 2003. He was their wide receivers coach. During his time there, he helped a new player named Anquan Boldin become very successful. Anquan Boldin even won the award for offensive rookie of the year that season!

Coaching the Buffalo Bills

After his time with the Cardinals, Coach Tolbert spent six years with the Buffalo Bills. He continued to coach their wide receivers from 2004 to 2009.

Coaching the Carolina Panthers

In 2010, Tyke Tolbert moved to the Carolina Panthers. He coached their wide receivers for that season.

Coaching the Denver Broncos

From 2011 to 2017, Coach Tolbert was the wide receivers coach for the Denver Broncos. This was a very exciting time for him and the team.

On February 7, 2016, Tyke Tolbert was part of the Broncos coaching staff that won Super Bowl 50. The Broncos played against the Carolina Panthers in that game. They won with a score of 24–10, making them Super Bowl champions!

Coaching the New York Giants

On January 24, 2018, Coach Tolbert joined the New York Giants. He continued his role as wide receivers coach under the new head coach, Pat Shurmur. When Joe Judge became the head coach in January 2020, Tyke Tolbert stayed on as the wide receivers coach.

Coaching the Chicago Bears

On February 2, 2022, Tyke Tolbert started coaching for the Chicago Bears. He was their wide receivers coach and also helped coordinate the team's passing game. He worked under head coach Matt Eberflus. Coach Tolbert left the Bears on January 10, 2024.

Coaching the Tennessee Titans

On February 13, 2024, the Tennessee Titans hired Tyke Tolbert. He joined their coaching staff as the wide receivers coach. He now works under the new head coach, Brian Callahan.
