Tyler is a small, quiet place in Spokane County, Washington, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. You can find Tyler along Washington State Route 904, not far from the big I-90 highway. It's about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of a town called Cheney.

The Story of Tyler
Tyler has an interesting past, especially how it got its name and how it changed over time.
Early Days and the Railroad
In May 1881, the Northern Pacific Railway started building train tracks through the area where Tyler is today. They also set up a train station there. At first, the community was known as "Stevens." In December 1881, the very first store opened in Stevens.
A New Name for the Town
On June 7, 1882, a post office opened in Stevens. More buildings were built as people began to settle down in the new community. For about 10 years, the town was called Stevens. But in 1892, the people living there decided to change the town's name to "Tyler." The railroad company was the one who first gave the name "Tyler" to the train station.
Growing and Changing
By the 1900s, Tyler had many businesses and homes. It even had its own water supply and a place for livestock in the middle of town. This shows it was a busy little community.
Modern Times and Decline
In 1965, the I-90 freeway was built right past Tyler. This big highway changed how people traveled. Later, in 1974, Tyler's post office closed down. Now, all mail for Tyler goes through Cheney. After the post office closed, the number of people living in Tyler slowly started to decrease.
