Tynaarlo is a village and a municipality (like a local government area) in the northeastern part of the Netherlands. Even though it's in the Drenthe province, many of its towns are like suburbs for the nearby city of Groningen. In 2019, about 33,698 people lived in the Tynaarlo municipality.

History of Tynaarlo

In 1998, Tynaarlo became a municipality. It was formed by joining three older municipalities: Eelde, Vries, and Zuidlaren. They first thought about keeping the name Zuidlaren. But Eelde and Vries didn't like that idea. So, they picked the name Tynaarlo, which was a smaller village right in the middle.
