Tyndale Baptist Church is a Baptist church located in Whiteladies Road, Redland, in Bristol, England. It is a place where people of the Baptist faith gather for worship and community activities.

The church was started in 1869. This happened because Broadmead Baptist Church wanted to create a new church. They saw that the area of Redland was growing. More people lived there, and they needed a local church.

Money to build the church was collected by a group of people. This group was led by E. S. Robinson. He was famous for starting a paper and packaging company. He was also the mayor of Bristol in 1866. The first minister, or leader, of the church was Revd Richard Glover. He was a very important person in the Baptist community. He worked for the church until 1911.

Important People from the Church

Many members of Tyndale Baptist Church were important in Bristol. Sir Herbert Ashman was the very first Lord Mayor of Bristol in 1899. He was baptized by Revd Glover. Edward Robinson, who was E. S. Robinson's son, also became Lord Mayor in 1908.

Charles Townsend was another key member. He was a Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bristol North. This means he represented the area in the country's government. He was the church secretary for over 20 years.

Beautiful Stained Glass Windows

The church was damaged during World War II. This happened in 1941 during the Bristol Blitz. After the war, the church was rebuilt. It opened again in 1955.

The new church has amazing stained glass windows. These windows were made by Arnold Robinson. He was the grandson of E. S. Robinson. His best work can be seen in this church.

Stories in Glass

The most beautiful windows are at each end of the transept. A transept is a part of a church that crosses the main part. One window shows scenes from a famous book called Pilgrim's Progress. This book was written by John Bunyan.

The other window tells the story of William Tyndale. He was a very important person in history. He translated the Bible into English. This made it possible for more people to read and understand it.
