Tyron Billy-Johnson was born on January 8, 1996. He is an American professional football player who plays as a wide receiver. He started his professional career in 2019 when he was signed by the Houston Texans. Before that, he played college football at Oklahoma State University.
Early Life and High School Football
Tyron Johnson grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He went to Warren Easton High School. During his senior year of high school football, he was an amazing receiver. He caught 94 passes for 1,589 yards and scored 17 touchdowns.
He was considered one of the best receiver recruits in the country. Many top college football programs wanted him to play for them.
College Football Career
Tyron Johnson first signed with LSU in 2015. However, he later transferred to Oklahoma State University (OSU).
He played for OSU for two years. In those 26 games, he caught 80 passes for a total of 1,288 yards. In his junior year at OSU, he played with quarterback Taylor Cornelius. That season, Johnson caught 53 passes for 845 yards and scored seven touchdowns. After his junior year, he decided to enter the NFL Draft.

Tyron Johnson began his professional career in 2019. He has played for several teams in the NFL and the United Football League (UFL).
Starting with the Houston Texans
On April 27, 2019, Tyron Johnson signed his first contract with the Houston Texans. He was later released by the team in August 2019.
Moving to Other Teams
After leaving the Texans, Johnson joined the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills in September 2019. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. He was with the Bills for a short time before returning to the Texans' practice squad. He also spent time on the practice squad for the Carolina Panthers.
Time with the Los Angeles Chargers
In December 2019, Johnson joined the practice squad of the Los Angeles Chargers. He signed a contract to stay with the Chargers for the next season.
In 2020, he was moved to the Chargers' main team. He played in 12 games that season and caught 20 passes. He scored his first career touchdown on a 53-yard pass from quarterback Justin Herbert. He scored two more touchdowns that season, one against the Atlanta Falcons and another against the Las Vegas Raiders. He was released by the Chargers in August 2021.
Playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars
On September 1, 2021, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked up Tyron Johnson. He played in five games for them, but only had one catch. He was released by the Jaguars in November 2021.
With the Las Vegas Raiders
Johnson then joined the practice squad of the Las Vegas Raiders in November 2021. He was later moved to their main team in January 2022. He was released by the Raiders in October 2022.
More Team Changes
After the Raiders, Tyron Johnson had another short time with the Houston Texans in October 2022. He then joined the practice squad of the Cincinnati Bengals in November 2022.
In February 2023, he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers, but he was released in May 2023.
Joining the Dallas Cowboys
On June 5, 2023, Tyron Johnson signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He was released by the Cowboys in August 2023 but later re-signed to their practice squad. He was released again in January 2024, but the Cowboys re-signed him in April 2024. He was released by the Cowboys in August 2024.
Playing in the UFL
On January 16, 2025, Tyron Johnson signed with the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League (UFL). He was released by the Stallions in March 2025.
