Tyrone Roberts (born on June 1, 1991) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays for the Ballina Seagulls in the NRRRL. Tyrone usually plays as a halfback (halfback) or five-eighth (five-eighth).

He has played for several big teams in his career. These include the Brisbane Broncos, Newcastle Knights, and Gold Coast Titans in Australia's National Rugby League (NRL). He also played for the Warrington Wolves in the Super League in England. Tyrone has represented New South Wales Country and the Indigenous All Stars teams.

Tyrone's Early Life and Family

Tyrone Roberts was born in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia. He is an Indigenous Australian.

He started playing junior football for the Western Suburbs Rosellas. This team is part of the Newcastle Rugby League. Later, the Newcastle Knights signed him to play for their club.

Tyrone has family members who also play rugby league. His cousin is Amos Roberts. Another player, James Roberts, is his second cousin.

A coach from the Newcastle Knights, Rick Stone, noticed Tyrone playing. So, Tyrone joined the Knights. From 2009 to 2011, he played for the Knights' NYC team. This team is for younger players.

Making His NRL Debut in 2011

Tyrone played his first game in the NRL in 2011. It was in Round 6 against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. He came off the bench and helped the Knights win 24–20. In his first year, he played seven NRL matches. He was also a reserve player for the Junior Kangaroos team.

Playing for Newcastle Knights

In 2012, Tyrone scored his first NRL try. It was against the Gold Coast Titans. He signed a new contract with the Knights for two more years. That year, he scored 3 tries and kicked 40 goals in 18 games.

In 2013, Tyrone played in all 27 of the Knights' matches. He scored 6 tries and kicked 49 goals.

Highlights of 2014

Tyrone played in the first ever 2014 NRL Auckland Nines tournament. He scored the very first try of the tournament! He also signed another two-year contract with Newcastle.

In 2014, he played for New South Wales Country against New South Wales City. He kicked 3 goals in a tied game. Tyrone played in all 24 of the Knights' matches that year. He scored 9 tries and kicked 20 goals.

Moving to Gold Coast Titans in 2015

Tyrone played in the 2015 NRL Auckland Nines and for the Indigenous All Stars team. He got an ankle injury in 2015, which stopped his streak of 79 games in a row.

After playing for the Knights for a while, Tyrone decided to join the Gold Coast Titans. He signed a two-year contract with them starting in 2016. In his last year with the Knights, he played 21 matches, scoring 3 tries and kicking 54 goals.

Success with the Gold Coast Titans

In 2016, Tyrone played for the Gold Coast in the 2016 NRL Auckland Nines. He also played for the Indigenous All Stars again. He made his debut for the Titans against his old team, the Knights. He helped the Titans win 30–12. Tyrone was a key player in helping the Gold Coast reach the NRL Finals for the first time since 2010.

Playing in England in 2018

In October 2017, it was announced that Tyrone would join the English team Warrington Wolves for three years. In 2018, he played in two big finals for Warrington. These were the 2018 Challenge Cup Final and the 2018 Super League Grand Final.

After just one season, Tyrone wanted to return to Australia to be with his family. So, he left Warrington and signed a two-year deal to play for the Gold Coast Titans again.

Back with the Gold Coast Titans

In 2019, Tyrone played 15 games for the Gold Coast. He also played halfback for the Indigenous All Stars in their win over the Maori All Stars.

In 2020, Tyrone played only 3 games for the Gold Coast. After the season, he left the Titans.

Joining Brisbane Broncos and Norths Devils

In 2022, Tyrone joined the Brisbane Broncos on a special contract. He had just led the Norths Devils to win the Queensland Cup Premiership. He played his first game for the Broncos in Round 1, helping them win against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He played a second game later that year.

Tyrone spent the rest of 2022 with Norths, helping them win a second Queensland Cup premiership in a row.

Playing for Burleigh in 2023

In 2023, Tyrone joined the Burleigh team in the Queensland Cup. He played in their Grand Final, but they lost to the Brisbane Tigers.

Current Team: Ballina Seagulls

As of January 2025, Tyrone Roberts signed to play for the Ballina Seagulls in the NRRRL competition.
