Ueno Park (上野公園, Ueno Kōen) is a large public park in the Ueno area of Taito-ku, Tokyo, Japan. It sits on the land where an old temple called Kan'eiji used to be. This temple was very important to the Tokugawa rulers of Japan. They built the temple to protect their castle, Edo Castle, from the northeast. Sadly, the temple was destroyed during a war called the Boshin War.

Ueno Park was given to the city of Tokyo by Emperor Taishō in 1924. This was a special gift from the Emperor. That's why its official name is Ueno Onshi Kōen (上野恩賜公園), which means "Ueno Imperial Gift Park."

You can find a famous statue of Saigō Takamori walking his dog in the park. Saigo Takamori was an important historical figure in Japan.
