This means it is a place that the government counts for population, but it is not a formal city or town. Ugashik is located in the Lake and Peninsula Borough. In 2020, only 4 people lived there. This was fewer than the 12 people who lived there in 2010.

Where is Ugashik located?
Ugashik is found on the Alaska Peninsula. It sits on the east bank of the Ugashik River. This is about 10 miles (16 km) upriver from where the river meets Ugashik Bay. Ugashik Bay is part of Bristol Bay in the Bering Sea.

Ugashik's salmon canneries
An old cannery called Alaska Packers worked here until 1957. Later, in 1962, a family-owned company called Briggs Way Cannery opened. This company is still running today. It is now known as Ugashik Wild Salmon Co. The second generation of the family and local fishermen continue to operate it.
