Ugeo (Hangul: 위우거; Hanja: 衛右渠) was the last king of a kingdom called Wiman Joseon. This kingdom was the final part of an even older kingdom known as Gojoseon. King Ugeo was the grandson of Wi Man, who was the first king of Wiman Joseon.
King Ugeo died in 108 BC. He was killed by someone sent by a group of people who believed it was better to give up to the Han dynasty. Even after Ugeo's death, Gojoseon kept fighting the Han forces for a short time. However, they eventually lost, and the Han dynasty set up new areas called the Four Commanderies of Han.

Challenges During Ugeo's Rule

The Canghai Commandery Rebellion
Around 128 BC, a rebellion started in an area that stretched from the northern Korean peninsula to southern Manchuria. This area was where the Canghai Commandery was later set up. A local leader named Nan Lü, who was a ruler of Dongye and a subject of Wiman Joseon, revolted against King Ugeo.
Nan Lü and about 280,000 people surrendered to the Han dynasty. Because of this, the Han dynasty created the Canghai Commandery. However, this new area only lasted for two years before it was removed by a Han official named Gongsun Hong.
