Underhill is a town in Oconto County, Wisconsin, United States. In the year 2000, about 846 people lived here. It is a quiet place with a mix of natural beauty and a bit of history.

Communities in Underhill
Underhill is home to a few smaller communities. These are places where people live and gather.
- Hintz is a small community. It is located on County Road H. This community was named after Robert Hintz. He was the first postmaster for the area.
- Mosling is another community. You can find it on County Road P. Part of Mosling is in Underhill. Another part is in the nearby town of Gillett. It was named to honor local business owners.
- Underhill is also the name of an unincorporated community. It is located along the Oconto River. This is northwest of where County Road V crosses the river.
History of Underhill
The land where Underhill is located has a long history.
Early History and Native Americans
The Menominee people are the original inhabitants of this area. They called this place Kāēkāēaweqnikoniw. This old name means "crossing the portage". A portage is a place where people carry boats or canoes over land. This land was part of the traditional Menominee territory.
In 1836, the Menominee gave this land to the United States. This happened as part of a treaty. The treaty was called the Treaty of the Cedars. It helped make room for other Native American groups. These groups included the Oneida, Stockbridge-Munsee, and Brothertown peoples. They had been moved from New York to Wisconsin.
Naming the Town
Later, the town was named in English. It was named after William Underhill. He was a white settler who came from Vermont. The town had a post office that opened in 1888. However, the post office closed down in 1976.
