What's in a Name?
The community of Union Creek gets its name from the nearby creek. The creek itself was named after Union Peak, a mountain found inside Crater Lake National Park. It's cool how places are often named after natural features around them!
A Look at the Past
Union Creek once had its own post office. It opened in 1924, which was a long time ago! The first person in charge of the post office was Helen C. Herriott. The post office stopped its main operations in 1942, but it didn't officially close until 1945.
Union Creek Historic District
The Union Creek Historic District is a really interesting part of the community. It includes several old buildings that show how people lived and worked in the past. These buildings are important because they help us understand the history of the area.
Being on the National Register of Historic Places means these buildings are protected. It helps make sure they stay around for future generations to learn from and enjoy.
