Untamed is an exciting steel roller coaster located at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire. It is a special type of coaster known as a Euro-Fighter. This thrilling ride opened to the public on June 11, 2011.
Untamed Roller Coaster
Untamed is a unique roller coaster built by the company Gerstlauer. It is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter 320+ model. The ride was put together by the Ride Entertainment Group. They help Gerstlauer with their projects in North and South America.
Ride Features
The ride starts with a lift hill that takes you straight up at a 90-degree angle. After reaching the top, the cars drop down a steep 97-degree hill. This drop is even steeper than straight down! The drop is about 72 feet tall.
After the big drop, the cars go through three exciting flips, called inversions. These include a large vertical loop, an Immelmann loop, and a zero-g roll. Each car holds 8 people. The ride lasts about 51 seconds.
The Untamed roller coaster has a cool forest theme. The parts that hold up the track look like white birch trees. These are the state trees of New Hampshire. The track itself is painted a dark green color.
Park Impact
Untamed was a big addition to Canobie Lake Park. It became the park's third steel roller coaster. This brought the total number of roller coasters at the park to four. Before Untamed, Canobie Lake Park had not added a new roller coaster since 1991. That was when the Dragon Coaster was built.
Untamed is located close to the park's oldest coaster, the Yankee Cannonball. It was built on land that used to be an open field. Part of an old building, the Jackpot Casino, was changed to become the line for the ride. An old spaceship decoration was also moved to make room for Untamed.
