When Was Utica Founded?
The first post office in Utica opened in 1879. This was an important step for the community. It meant people could send and receive mail easily.

An early settler named C.W. Bell gave Utica its name. He was from a city called Utica, New York. He decided to name the new Kansas town after his hometown.

Utica used to have its own schools. Utica High School closed in 2001. Its mascot was the Utica Dragons. Utica Elementary School also closed a few years later, in 2004.
