*Club domestic league appearances and goals |
Uwe Reinders, born on January 19, 1955, is a German former football player and manager.
He was a forward, which means he played in an attacking position to score goals. Reinders played 206 games and scored 67 goals for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga from 1977 to 1985. He also played for teams in other countries, like Girondins de Bordeaux (1985–1986) and Stade Rennais (1986–1987).
Reinders played four times for West Germany. He was part of the team in the 1982 World Cup finals. During that tournament, he scored a goal in West Germany's 4–1 win against Chile. This was his only goal for the national team. In 1987, Reinders started working as a player-manager for Eintracht Braunschweig. This meant he was both playing for the team and managing it at the same time.

Uwe Reinders' Coaching Career
After he stopped playing football, Uwe Reinders continued his career as a manager.
Managing Eintracht Braunschweig
He first managed Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga from 1988 to 1989. After two seasons with Braunschweig, he left the club.
Leading Hansa Rostock to Success
Reinders then took over Hansa Rostock in East Germany. This was a special time because East Germany's football league was about to join the main German football system. Under Reinders' leadership, Rostock had a fantastic season in 1990–91.
- They won the last ever East German Cup.
- They also won the NOFV Oberliga Nordost title.
Winning both of these meant that Hansa Rostock qualified to play in the Bundesliga for the 1991–92 season. Rostock started the 1991–92 season very well. However, their performance later dropped a lot. Because the team was at risk of being moved down to a lower league, Reinders was let go on March 6, 1992.
Challenges at MSV Duisburg and Hertha BSC
Just one month later, Reinders became the manager of another Bundesliga team, MSV Duisburg. This team was also struggling and facing relegation. Reinders tried his best, but he could not stop Duisburg from being relegated. He stayed with MSV Duisburg at the start of the next season. However, on October 21, 1993, he left the club.
He then took charge of Hertha BSC, another team in the 2. Bundesliga. But this job only lasted five months before he was dismissed.
Return to Eintracht Braunschweig
It took almost eight years for Reinders to return to managing a top German football team. On October 25, 2002, Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga hired him again. He took over from Peter Vollmann. However, Reinders could not keep Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga. After a difficult period in the lower Regionalliga Nord, he was dismissed on March 2, 2004.
Later Coaching Roles
Reinders' next jobs were with 1. FC Pforzheim and then Brinkumer SV. Brinkumer SV had just been promoted to the fourth level of German football, the Oberliga Nord, at the start of the 2005–06 season. Reinders did not stay long at Brinkumer SV. He resigned during the season when the club was near the bottom of the league table.
