Uwe Reinders (born January 19, 1955) is a German former professional football player and manager. He was known for playing as a forward.

Reinders played 206 games for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. He scored 67 goals for them between 1977 and 1985. He also played for teams outside Germany. These included Girondins de Bordeaux (1985–1986) and Stade Rennais (1986–1987).

He played four times for the West Germany national team. His most famous game was in the 1982 World Cup. He scored a goal in West Germany's 4–1 win against Chile. This was his only goal for the national team. In 1987, Reinders became a player-manager for Eintracht Braunschweig.

Coaching Career Highlights

After he stopped playing, Uwe Reinders continued his career as a football manager. He first managed Eintracht Braunschweig from 1988 to 1989. This team was in the 2. Bundesliga at the time.

Success with Hansa Rostock

After two seasons with Braunschweig, he moved to Hansa Rostock. This team was in East Germany's top league. The 1990–91 season was very important for East German clubs. They needed to join the main German football league system.

Under Reinders' leadership, Rostock had a great season.

  • They won the last ever East German Cup. They beat FC Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt in the final.
  • They also won the NOFV Oberliga Nordost title.

This meant the team earned a spot in the Bundesliga for the 1991–92 season. Rostock started the 1991–92 season very well. However, their performance later dropped a lot. Because of the risk of being moved down to a lower league, the club let him go on March 6, 1992.

Managing Other Clubs

Just one month later, Reinders became the manager of another Bundesliga team. He took over MSV Duisburg, who were also in danger of being moved down. He could not stop them from being relegated. Reinders stayed with MSV Duisburg at the start of the next season. But he left on October 21, 1993.

He then became manager of Hertha BSC, another team in the 2. Bundesliga. He only stayed there for five months before being let go. It took almost eight years for him to manage a top German team again. On October 25, 2002, Eintracht Braunschweig hired Reinders again. They were in the 2. Bundesliga. However, he could not keep Braunschweig in that league. He was sacked on March 2, 2004.

Reinders' next jobs were at 1. FC Pforzheim and then Brinkumer SV. Brinkumer SV had just moved up to the fourth level of German football. He did not stay long at Brinkumer SV. He left halfway through the season when the team was near the bottom of the league.
