V Rama Rao (born December 12, 1935 – died January 17, 2016) was an important Indian politician. He served as the Governor of Sikkim from 2002 to 2007. Before that, he was a key leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He also represented Hyderabad in the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council for many years.

Early Life and Career
V Rama Rao was born on December 12, 1935. His family lived near Machilipatnam in what is now Andhra Pradesh, India. He studied law and became a lawyer. He worked at the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
In his early career, he helped many workers. He was the president of several employee unions. These unions helped workers in big companies and government organizations.
Political Journey
V Rama Rao began his political journey in 1956. He joined a political party called Jana Sangh. He became a national leader in this party. Later, Jana Sangh became the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He served as the head of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh for two terms. This was from 1993 to 2001. He also became a national vice president for the party from 2002 to 2007. He was also a member of the senate at Osmania University.
Serving in the Legislative Council
V Rama Rao was elected to the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council four times. This council helps make laws for the state. He represented the Hyderabad Graduates' area. He won elections in 1966, 1972, 1978, and 1984. During his last term, he was the leader of his party in the council.
Governor of Sikkim
In October 2002, the President of India chose V Rama Rao to be the Governor of Sikkim. The Governor is like the head of a state in India. He served in this important role until October 2007.
Passing Away
V Rama Rao passed away on January 17, 2016. He was receiving medical treatment in Hyderabad, India, at the time.
