Vaihingen an der Enz is a town in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg. It sits along the Enz river between the big cities of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. Around 30,000 people call Vaihingen home.

A Look at Vaihingen's Past
Vaihingen is a very old town. Its history goes all the way back to the year 799 AD.
How Vaihingen Became a Town
In 1252, Count Gottfried von Vaihingen officially made it a town. After a big religious change called the Reformation, Vaihingen became a Protestant town.
Vaihingen During the Thirty Years' War
From 1618 to 1648, a major conflict called the Thirty Years' War happened. Vaihingen became a battlefield during this time. Different groups fought over their beliefs.
Changes in the 1800s and 1900s
In 1848, a series of revolutions swept through Germany. This event, known as the Revolution of 1848, made things tough for Vaihingen's economy. Many people left to find work elsewhere.
In the early 1900s, a railroad line reached Vaihingen. This was a big deal! It brought more people and new businesses to the town. By 1938, Vaihingen became an important center for its region.
