Valeriya (Russian: Валерия) is the stage name of Alla Yurievna Perfilova (Russian: Алла Юрьевна Перфилова). She was born on April 17, 1968. Valeriya is a famous Russian singer and fashion model.

She has received many important awards. These include the titles of People's Artist of Russia (2013) and People's Artist of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (2016). She has also won many music awards. Some of these are the Golden Gramophone (thirteen times) and Pesnya goda (thirteen times). She also won four Muz-TV awards and two MTV Russia Music Awards.

Since 2012, Valeriya has been part of the Council for Culture and Art. This council works with the President of the Russian Federation.

Valeriya was born on April 17, 1968. Her hometown is Atkarsk, which is in the Saratov Oblast region.

Her Music Career

In 1985, Valeriya started studying music. She went to the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow. She finished her studies there in 1990.

Valeriya recorded her first two albums in 1989. Her first album in English was The Taiga Symphony. It came out in 1991. A year later, she released Pobud' so mnoi (Stay with me). This album featured traditional Russian romance songs.

In 1992, Valeriya won first place in a national TV contest called Morning Star. That same year, she won an international contest called Bratislavskaya Lira. She also received an Audience Choice Award at the Yurmala-92.

In 2005, Valeriya was given the title of Honoured Artiste of Russia. This is a special award for artists. That year, she was also ranked 9th on the Forbes magazine list. This list showed the 50 highest-paid people in movies, sports, books, and music.

In March 2009, Valeriya was a special guest on Simply Red's "The Greatest Hits" Tour in the UK. She also took part in the contest to represent Russia in Eurovision 2009. Her song was "Back to Love." She came in second place. In 2010, Valeriya worked with Avon. She was a judge for Avon Voices. This was a worldwide online singing contest for women. It also had a songwriting contest for men and women.

Valeriya's 2013 album was called Po serpantinu. It included four duets with other singers. One famous duet was with Goran Bregovich. Many people talked about the song "I Will Be Waiting for You." This song was part of the movie Polar Flight soundtrack. After this, she released a "Best Of" album called Eto vremya lyubvi (This Is the Time of Love). This album included a duet with her daughter, Anna Shulgina, called "Ty moya" (You Are Mine).

Her 2016 album was named Okeany (Oceans). In 2017, she released the album K solntsu (Towards the Sun). Young songwriters helped create the songs for this album. Two songs from this album became very popular: "Minor Infarctions" and "The Heart Is Broken." The music video for "The Heart Is Broken" got 112 million views on YouTube in its first week!

Valeriya has been married three times. Her first husband was Leonid Yaroshevsky. Her second husband was Alexandr Shulgin. She is currently married to Iosif Prigozhin. Valeriya lives in Moscow.
